Luck is when Opportunity meets Preparation plus Action

Are some people luckier than others? The answer is a resounding YES! Some people are luckier than others but it is not because they have a lucky streak, a lucky charm, or any innate reason for their luck. Some people are luckier because they attract luck. They are lucky because they create, attract, and welcome luck.

You’ve heard the phrase by Roman philosopher Seneca, “luck is when opportunity meets preparation.” Well, he only had it partially right. In fact, Seneca left out a critical component – Action. This is the complete formula: Luck is when Opportunity meets Preparation plus Action.

Here’s why:
When opportunity meets preparation there is a POTENTIAL for luck. There is a potential for many great things. But if NO ACTION is taken when preparation and opportunity meet, nothing happens. It’s simply a lost opportunity. A moment when you will have wished you did something.

It’s happened to you. You look back and say, “I wish I would have done (insert your regret)”. You were ready, you were prepared, but you did nothing. And where did that get you? It happens to all of us from time to time.

“Luck is when Opportunity meets Preparation plus Action”

Preparation is essential.
Opportunity will present itself.
Action is critical.
Luck happens.

Even if you are not prepared, if you take action … if you take the shot, you may still get lucky. It’s always about taking action. Imperfect action is almost always better than no action. You’ve got to be in the game to play, and you have to be in the game to win.

If you want more opportunities, take more action. If you are stagnate, nobody will care. And why should they? People love to support and be a part of something that has momentum. If you are taking action and you are making it happen, others are going to want to be a part of it and support you. They want to help you succeed or be a part of your success. Action magnetically attracts support and more opportunity. In other words, you’ll get lucky. So get out there.

Indeed, you have to be prepared and set such that you harness every opportunity that comes your way. By that, experience too, induces LUCK
